335i N55 unkultivierter Motorlauf / Zucken

  • Hi, from the Canada reading this form using google translate lol, Ben01 did you also have engine rpm surge when steering at low speeds? It becomes better as the engine warms up. I've been having this issue for a long time, changed spark plugs, coils, both vanos solenoids, multiple power steering flushes, transmission oil + filter change + seals and nothing seems to be able to reduce this. Also I think my car may have the exhaust cam ledge bolt tick/knock on cold start (do you think it's that?) The car has no codes at all, I just check my torque converter bolts and they're tight.

  • Did you read Ben's resolution? In his case it was the gearbox and not the engine. Even after an engine swap the problem still persisted

Hi thanks for the reply, I did read that, but there seems to be some translation errors when I was reading the thread (his e90 has electric steering?), I was trying to figure out if we had the same issue. My engine RPM would fluctuate when turning, like the power steering is making the engine stall and the rpm surge up to compensate. It wasn't clear whether that was his primary issue. Thanks !

If you don't have any other issues beside of the described rpm surge when turning the steering I would rather consider a power steering malefunction than the usual reasons like High Pressure Fuel pump or Injectores. For sure it is nothing serious if there aren't any error codes displayed.

The power steering pump actually has no issues, car has servotronic steering it's smooth with no binding, only makes noise near steering lock which is normal. Car has no codes at all for anything. I wonder if Xhp will help since I actually can't imagine transmission being the problem. Also I would like to thank you guys for responding, I have looked everywhere for a solution and only here is someone able to solve it. I do apologize for using English I don't speak any German a friend recommended me to look here.

No worries, I‘m used to communicate in English.

I really doubt that the transmission has anything to do with it. Does the engine run smoothly in Idle mode at 550rpm? How is the behavior with active A/C when turning the steering wheel? Maybe a slight idle rpm increase will fix your problem.

The engine idles at 660rpm (is the n55 suppose to idle at 550rpm?) according to ISTA to but it does have a occasional +-50rpm shift which apparently is normal, With AC the surging is more pronounced, also the car has light pulsing when in gear and brakes applied I think NIC (Neutral Idle Control) is not engaging.
